Corporate Milestones

Over the past years since incorporation, Total Automation has grown from a start-up of a small team offering engineering services in the Singapore market, to a public-listed company with a strength of over 400 competent engineers, offering quality service and support to the Group’s customers worldwide.

Starting Up

1987

Total Automation commences operations.

Company provides comprehensive range of services in the field of instrumentation, automation and control equipment for tankers, container vessels, cargo vessels and offshore storage vessels. Total Automation provides services specifically to ship-owners on vessels undergoing repairs in major Singapore shipyards, at anchorage and on voyage.

Early 1990's

Expansion of local operations.

Due to continued growth in the marine and petrochemical industries, Total Automation expands its operations to include not only service and retrofit work, but also turnkey projects on marine, offshore, petrochemical and utility projects.

 

 

Global Expansion

1997

Total Automation expands to the Middle East -
Total Automation Middle East LLC established in Dubai, U.A.E.

Due to increased demand for the Company’s services, and after repeated requests from numerous marine customers, Total Automation expands to the Middle East to better service customers.Total Automation is now able to better service customers in both the Far East and the Middle East.

1997

Total Automation (International) Ltd established in Gibraltar.

This office is established as a holding company for Total Automation Middle East. Its main role is to co-ordinate all overseas activities of the Group. Such activities include the co-ordination of the Far East and Middle East operations and for the future expansion of the Group in Europe.

2001

Expansion to Europe – Acquisition of Whessoe Group of companies in France and the U.K., makers of the world renowned Whessoe marine and land based LPG and LNG gauging systems.

The acquisition allows Total Automation to offer its customers a leading name in cargo level gauging solutions for product carriers, oil tankers, LPG carriers and LNG carriers. Whessoe is the No. 1 vendor for all LNG projects in Japan, South Korea and Europe, used in about 60-70% of marine LNG and LPG carriers.

2003

Acquisition of 55% Fischer Engineering Pte Ltd

Fischer Engineering is principally engaged in repair, maintenance and supply of turbochargers, engines and related spares. This acquisition broadens the scope of services and capabilities of the Group and enhances the depth of service quality to customers worldwide.

2004

Acquisition of 55% Haven Automation Group Companies

The Haven Automation Group Companies are involved in the service/repair and execution of projects in instrumentation, controls and automation systems for the marine, offshore and landbased industries. The group is also involved in the trading and supply of various landbased equipment and parts. This acquisition allows the Group to acquire well-trained engineers and to expand the customer base.

Expansion to China – Establishment of Joint Venture Company known as “Cosco-Shipyard Total Automation Co., Ltd”

The joint venture company between Total Automation Ltd and Cosco Shipyard Group Co., Ltd commenced operations in March 2005 to establish a presence in China and provide an extension of the Group’s services to existing and new customers in China. The principal activities are to carry out the design, manufacture, sale and technical service relating to vessel and industrial electronic, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, instrument and other control equipment, systems, spares and accessories.

2005

Acquisition of Haven Hydraulic & Crane Controls (S) Pte Ltd

Total Automation acquired the entire issued share capital of Haven Hydraulic & Crane Controls (S) Pte Ltd to streamline the Group’s operations and improve the effectiveness of implementation of growth and expansion strategies in this business segment of the Group.

2006

Acquisition of balance 45% of Haven Automation Group Companies

In the first half of 2006, Total Automation acquired the balance shareholdings in the Haven Automation Group of Companies being Haven Automation Marine, Sea Automation Services and Equator Automation.

 2006

Acquisition of the entire Total Automation Group


On the 30 June 2006 Wartsila Corporation of Finland acquired control of the complete Group with Total Automation Ltd changing its name to Total Automation Pte Ltd.

Public Listing

1999

Listed on the Singapore Exchange SESDAQ.

2001

Upgraded to the Singapore Exchange MAIN BOARD, which has more stringent listing requirements than SESDAQ.
